Artists Have Just Recreated Van Gogh’s Bedroom, And You Can Spend The Night

When it comes to traveling on a budget, Airbnb is a thrifty adventurer’s best friend. If you’re not familiar with the service, this site connects travelers with people who are renting out rooms (and sometimes entire homes) in their destination city. It’s a great way to save some money and avoid the cookie-cutter atmosphere of chain hotels.

That uniqueness is what drives more and more people to Airbnb every day, and as far as customer experience is concerned, some listers go above and beyond the call of duty. In a gorgeous effort to celebrate the life of one iconic artist, creators at the Art Institute of Chicago decided to post the most unique Airbnb listing of all time.

If you’re traveling to Chicago anytime soon, you can spend the night in Van Gogh’s bedroom.

The artist immortalized this space in a series of three paintings called The Bedroom. Instead of recreating the paintings in two dimensions, they decided to bring Van Gogh’s room to life.

The project began as a way to explore how the artist’s post-impressionistic aesthetic impacted his worldview, and vice versa. Curators decided that tying a visceral experience to the living space would be the most effective way to do so.

The best thing about this project is that they’re allowing everyday people to immerse themselves in one of art’s greatest imaginations. For just $10 a night, you can effectively stand where Van Gogh stood.
